2019 Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week

Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young, Mayor’s Office of Small, Minority and Women Business & Mid-Atlantic Region Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Advanced Manufacturing Center – Baltimore will host the 2019 Minority Enterprise Development (MED) / Supplier Diversity and Inclusion (SDI) Week on Monday, October 7 through Friday, October 11, 2019. The theme of the week is Inform, Instruct, Inspire. This week was created to raise awareness about the critical role minority and women-owned businesses play in Baltimore at a time when they need support the most and offer business owners an opportunity to network and learn about new trends in the industry.

Below is the 2019 MED / SDI Week Schedule of Events:

  • Monday, October 7th – Press Announcement – Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young proclaims Minority Enterprises Development / Supplier Diversity and Inclusion Week (Invitation Only)
  • Tuesday, October 8th – Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) Site Tours (Invitation Only)
  • Thursday, October 10th – Minority Manufacturing Symposium hosted by Mid-Atlantic Region MBDA Advanced Manufacturing Center – Baltimore and Regional Manufacturing Institute of Maryland

This Minority Manufacturing Symposium is hosted by Mid-Atlantic Region Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Advanced Manufacturing Center – Baltimore and Regional Manufacturing Institute, Inc. This Minority Manufacturing Symposium will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2019, 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Reginald F Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History & Culture, 830 E. Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. The Mid-Atlantic Region Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Advanced Manufacturing Center – Baltimore and Regional Manufacturing Institute will host an interactive symposium focused on business development for minority manufacturers and minority businesses in the manufacturing supply chain. This symposium will inform, instruct and inspire with expert presentations on value creation and presentation skills, Shark Tank-like client presentations, and motivational inspiration from nationally recognized, successful entrepreneurs to help minority manufacturers close the “big deal”.

There is a $50.00 cost for registration. Payments can be made by credit card at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/minmansym/ and by check. Make checks payable to the Baltimore City Foundation and write on the memo line 219-00 MOWBD Advanced Manufacturing Center Baltimore. PLEASE DO NOT PAY THORUGH EVENTBRITE.

  • Friday, October 11th – Federal Procurement Fair – Connecting Businesses to Opportunities hosted by U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin and Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young

This Federal Procurement Fair($50 ticket cost) hosted by U.S. Senator Benjamin L. Cardin and Mayor Bernard C. “Jack” Young will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019, 9:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the War Memorial Building, 101 N. Gay Street, Baltimore, MD 21202. The Federal Procurement Fair will feature federal government agencies and corporations. Attendees will hear directly from procurement officials about opportunities for small, minority and women-owned businesses. Workshops and matchmaking sessions will be available.

Parking available at the Lexington Street Garage located at 510 E. Lexington Street (Directly across from War Memorial Building) and the Baltimore Street Garage located at 201 W. Baltimore Street. (Entrances on Fayette Street and Guilford Avenue).
